Sometimes peace seems impossible to find, let alone hold on to, especially during the holiday season. With so many things on our to-do list, so many plans to make, and so much uncertainty in the world around us, well - it’s hard to know where to begin.
This Advent Calendar can help. Instead of just giving you a new piece of candy a day, this calendar will invite you into a simple practice of unwrapping a tiny bit of peace on a daily basis….peace within yourself, within relationships, peace of mind and peace of heart.
Each day will offer a thought-provoking and inspiring quote about peace to reflect on. And give you an easy, quick and yet engaging activity to do on your own, with a partner or with your family… a way to help you pause for a moment and breathe, a way to make this season feel meaningful…and yes, more peaceful.
We created this Advent calendar for anyone who might enjoy it as well as for our church community at Winnetka Congregational Church, a non-denominational, family-friendly, LGBTQ-inclusive church working on antiracism, environmental justice and multi-faith solidarity.
At Winnetka Congregational, ever since we opened our doors, we’ve been dedicated to being an “open house.” Open to you, exactly as you are – whatever your history, age, orientation, skin color, abilities, or the size of your bank account. Open to questions and open to conversations, even the hard ones. Open to faith and doubt. Justice and joy. Self-care and care for each other.
